TOURS ON BY APPOINTMENT IN FITZROY/COLLINGWOOD
Your booking includes the 1-1/2 hour Tour plus a 30-minute Chocolate Tasting at Mámor Chocolates, Melbourne's premier boutique Chocolate & High Tea Szalón. Your tasting includes five chocolates of your choice plus a drink (bubbly or coffee/tea).
Learn about the "Chocolate King of Victoria", MacPherson Robertson, inventor of Freddo Frog, Cherry Ripe and Old Gold.Join us on a memorable walk through the Chocolate History of Victoria! Gambol through the “Great White Chocolate City” (once employing 3,000 people).
Walk through the secret chocolate laneways. See where Mac. began his business. Learn about his biggest successes and his modest beginnings, all within a few blocks. Peek into Mac's private life. Also walk by other famous chocolatiers in the neighbourhood. Tour finishes with a spectacular Chocolate Tasting of modern Mac.Robertson flavours at Mámor Chocolates.
Your guide: Aside from being a professional chocolatier owner/manager, Howard is a business professor and researches business entrepreneurship, especially Victorian-era entrepreneurs. For his sins, he is also President of the Smith Street Business Association.
Time: By appointment only during Winter 2015.
Venue: Fitzroy Town Hall front steps, corner of Moor and Napier Streets, Fitzroy 3065, near the 86 and 112 trams. Map. You must pre-register.
Duration is approximately 2 hours including Tour and Chocolate Tasting.
Length of the walk is about 2.5 km.
Please note: We do not permit children under 12 years of age on the tour.
Price: Individuals are $45 all-inclusive.
FAQ: Please arrive to the starting point by 9:50am (Saturdays) to start the walk. Please dress for comfort and wear comfortable shoes taking into account the predicted weather forecast and the length of the walk (about 2.5km). Walkers with any health issues should be guided by the opinion of their doctor regarding activities of this nature. We suggest that you bring a bottle of water and umbrella with you.
